When Osamu listens to Atsumu recite his speech at the reception, he can’t help falling back into a memory. A memory that’s never far from the front of his mind, constantly tucked in a back room of his brain when he needs to think of something that’ll save him when reality gets a little too stressful.
Osamu is 17 and sitting on the rooftop of his childhood home because Rintarou had shown up sometime past midnight with a six-pack of beer and convinced him to share a couple of them up there. He’d learned pretty early on that he’d never really be able to say no to Rintarou when the other boy flashed him that sly smirk paired with a couple of hooded eyes.
Osamu learned Rintarou would be the ending and beginning of him all at once.
