Summary
Summertime was when life on the Outer Banks thrived, even for Pogues like Leah Thompson. You see, the social order of life down on the string of North Carolinian islands made it so that the Pogues, while viewed as trash, were neglected and ignored. Meaning that for Leah and her friends, the world was their oyster and they could do almost anything they wanted. The summer, seeping in with its blistering heat and sweat, were slices of heaven that Leah knew not to take for granted. Summer was when the waves were tall, the drinks were nearly endless, and the memories you made were forever.
This summer was supposed to be just like that. Perfect, another one for the books. And it would have been, if Hurricane Agatha hadn't come roaring through, leaving nothing but destruction and half-baked clues to a mystery in her wake.
