Summary
When Flins and the Traveler face off against the phantom Rerir at Starsand Shoal with the intention to stop him from regaining his true form, Rerir reveals a devastating repercussion from the way Flins has been keeping a fragment of Rerir's heart in his lantern: through the resonation of the Abyss, and the close proximity to Flins' true form, he has come to see what lies in Flins' heart.
And since Flins has taken his heart, he's now going to take Flins' in revenge.
There’s only one place Rerir is going. There’s only one, exact thing that Flins’ heart could lead Rerir directly to.

Secrets cannot be kept forever; the both of them are aware of this more than ever. Expecting the unexpected was the first thing a Lightkeeper could get used to, but the shock doesn't wear off as easily.
The (second) next time he sees Flins, the words come tumbling out of his mouth faster than his brain can think.
“Were you trying to court me?”
“I’d be honored to do so, Young Master.”
Then why haven’t you?! Is the question that springs to his mind, but Illuga tampers himself down before realising what Flins had said, his mind short-circuiting.

In Flins' continued and worrying absence, Illuga decides that the first thing he'll do is find Flins, make sure he's alright and get the answers to his missing memories.
