Summary
Kara didn’t dream often. At least, not of her life on Earth. She often had visions of those terrible unending years in the Phantom Zone, of her planet dying right before her eyes.
Kara didn’t dream often. She had nightmares, many of them; so many, that sometimes she wondered if she really was happy, or if she was faking it for the sake of everyone else.
Kara knew- in real life she was destined for war and death and loss; but, this one time, for one night, her mind allowed her the fantasy of a perfect world.
So maybe it shouldn’t have been such a big surprise that Lena was there.- OR, Kara dreams of an alternate universe where she and Lena are happy. Reality isn't exactly that simple, but Kara can dream.

"Kara hasn’t slept well in a long time. She didn’t sleep much at home, and this world is no different. The only thing that really keeps her going is making sure that the other Kara has a good life to return to. So during the day, she dutifully goes to CatCo and writes the bright and hopeful articles that Kara Danvers inspires people with, and at night she gets to shed her persona and take her frustrations out on the few people who still dare be a nuisance to National City. Sometimes, when things are too quiet, she flies to a nearby city, or maybe a very distant one, just to feel less stuck in a place where she doesn’t belong. The world is still big and full of things she doesn’t know, and that’s good. It grounds her."

Summary
She tries to leave a gap between herself and Clarke, room for stuttered syllables and half formed thoughts, space for red and wrong and want. (If I leaned a little to the left, bet our fingertips would touch.) It doesn't work though, not with Clarke insisting on taking up way more than her half of the bed, a starfish to rival Lexa's rigid plank.
“Hey, Lexa? You know that... person you broke up with? The one that you told me about on the first day of term?”
She turns round to face her, breath hot against Lexa's lips, breaking the invisible barrier of cloth and skin. “Why did you... you know, end things?”
And maybe it's because Clarke said “person” instead of boy, or the fact that it's two am and all her pride has turned to ashes in the dark, but somehow she starts spilling her soul, a tabloid free for all.
