Summary
Lottie, ever patient, plays Natalie’s game. She knows when it’s important to give Natalie the upper-hand, at least for appearance’s sake. She looks upon Natalie while awaiting her inevitable desperate, animal need to convey. Lottie pictures Nat as a caged tiger, pacing the same, worn run of grass continually until it can find the will to break out of its own haze. Eventually, Lottie and Natalie lock eyes, her hazel irises betraying her hesitance rather than blazing in fury.
“Why did you need to find me so close to sunset?” Lottie inquires, leading.
“You…” Natalie exhales loudly, now annoyed by the bluff. “You know why I came to find you.”
Now, there’s the fire Lottie expected.
