Summary
Flash fiction re-imaginings of the poems in the Romancero Gitano, a poetry collection by Spanish writer Federico García Lorca. The themes of the poems are very powerful and, to me, somewhat difficult to meet head on. These fics are an attempt to take an oblique look at them and make them my own, in a way.
I try to link the poems with their English translations in the notes, when I can find them online. Please be aware that the vast majority of the translations, while faithful to the meanings of the original poems, do not keep the meter and the rhymes, and therefore do not convey the magnetic charm of Lorca's works.

He met Lan Zhan’s gaze and came to a cold realization that this Lan Zhan didn’t recognize him. This was not his husband who had grieved him for thirteen years, who had been punished with thirty three strikes of the discipline whip by a sect who claimed to be righteous – but only complied to that righteousness when it fit their ideals, if anyone fell out of line, clearly, they could not be held responsible for dealing out punishment for stepping off the path – his husband, who had branded himself after finding their son in the ruins of the Burial Mounds.
This was a version of his husband Wei Ying had not gotten to experience.

or: an accidental time travel takes Wei Ying back to a time (to a cave) he doesn't remember, and it's now up to him and his husband to save everyone before the clans come to lay siege.

From what he remembers, he wished for a second chance to be with Wei Ying, to ensure his happiness. So now he's here. To make sure Wei Ying gets the life he deserves. Yes. He has connected the dots.
Thereafter, Lan Wangji guide Wei Ying through his life as much as he can. He only wished to make sure Wei Ying was happy, but the universe had other plans. Plans such as telling him truths he didn't know of.
