Summary
“This is the way the world ends / Not with a bang but a whimper." - T.S. Eliot
The world ended. They lived.
In the uneasy safety of the quarry, survival is a constant negotiation. It’s a choice of who to trust, a question of who to become, and what leadership costs in a world stripped bare.
Shane Walsh held the group together. Rick’s return doesn’t feel like salvation; it feels like a reckoning. His presence cracks the fragile balance Shane built—and Scout Dixon, a Marine bearing her own scars, sees the fractures with unsettling clarity.
Scout didn’t arrive by chance. She came overland, convoy in tow, with siblings and survivors who’d already faced the worst. A burned combat veteran with an intel background, she reads people like terrain—and in Shane, she sees the dangerous slope between protection and control. She’s not here to take over. She’s here because someone has to remember how to hold a line.
As others—Lori, Daryl, Carol, Merle—grapple with shifting identities, the camp teeters. Not just between life and death, but between who they were and who they must become to survive. Hope is a distant shore. For now, survival has to be enough.

Summary
Rose Reilly is a surgical resident specializing in trauma medicine under Dr. Robinavitch and Dr. Abbot. A series of scenes involving Robby and Rose over the course of her residency.
Snippet from fifteen:
It struck him all at once, the terrible privacy of her suffering. His entire career had been built on fixing pain, applying pressure, stopping bleeding, restarting hearts. With nothing to triage, he was useless here.“I’ve got you.”
A promise he could keep for at least the next breath.
Robby traced his fingertips over her neck gently until he was sure she had finally dozed off. His own guilt clanged inside him, an instrument abandoned on an empty surgical tray.

Summary
Fluorescent lights. Charting pens that vanish by the hour. The steady thrum of controlled chaos. There are easier places to fall for someone than a Chicago emergency room, and Jane Becker — a fourth-year med student busy dodging trauma cases and her own misplaced emotional timing — is trying very hard not to have feelings for John Carter.
And it doesn't particularly help that they share the same air and the same hallways, all stitched together by trauma codes and vending machine coffee. Eventually, something had to give.
Welcome to County General. And remember to wash your hands.
