“We, uh, went back to his place and we were…” Buck can’t find the words to say it, but Eddie finishes for him.
“Having sex?”
“Uh-huh,” Buck confirms, unable to meet his friend’s eyes. It’s not like they don’t talk about this stuff. They do, but never with this much detail. “We were having sex,” he repeats.
“Okay, and…?”
“And, well, usually if you’re hooking up with someone, you’d want to make sure you both have a good time, right? Like that’s basic fucking human decency.”
“Shit, he didn’t get you off?” Eddie asks, and Buck feels himself fluster immediately.
OR
Buck has a less than satisfactory hookup and Eddie takes it into his own hands.

Summary
They don’t do the easy drop-ins anymore. Eddie doesn’t find Buck half-asleep on his couch or rummaging through the fridge or baking up loaves of bread like he owns the place. He doesn’t show up at Eddie’s door with takeout and a grin like he belongs there. Eddie doesn’t go over to Buck’s much either —doesn’t know when that started exactly.
When they hang out, there’s usually Ravi in the mix. The kid’s smart and earnest and too good at pretending he isn’t paying attention. Eddie likes Ravi. He really does. But he can’t help resenting him just a little. He can’t help the small, selfish sting of it.
Like Buck needs a buffer now.
Like being alone together is something to be avoided.
And, fuck.
Eddie misses Buck.

“I'm not in love with you.” There’s a jolt in Eddie’s stomach at that. “I’m not secretly pining for you, or anything like that. I don’t even see you that way.”
“Oh,” Eddie says, then forces out a laugh he hopes sounds casual. Buck’s eyes are wide, honest, like he’s desperate for Eddie to be reassured by this admission, to believe him. And how much clearer could he be? He’s not in love with Eddie. That’s fine. Eddie never expected him to be. His now empty beer bottle hits the counter too loudly, “No, of course not.”
Or: Buck reassures Eddie that he's not in love with him. Eddie feels some type of way about that.
