This was originally meant to be in a series but due to lack of motivation and self loathing of reading old works it's a standalone.

"You!" Blade growls, voice full of untold threat, "Why did you participate in the battle with Irontomb?"
Jing Yuan pauses at the threshold of his front doors, feeling somewhat wrongfooted in his own home and fairly resentful of it. "Could I interest you in some tea?" he recovers enough to offer politely, "I have a lovely jasmine variety that the Yuque just sent over to congratulate us on the victory."
Blade lets loose a string of colorful curses that would surely make the ears of a Zhuming native burn, but Jing Yuan only takes a seat in one of the armchairs, leaning back in a relaxed slouch and unbuckling his bracers and pauldrons, shrugging them off as he meets Blade's glare with a placid expression. "I take it you are not interested in the tea."
"Fuck the tea," Blade roars, "why are you trying to die?"

Never turn your back to the enemy and always keep an eye on the exit route. Concepts that had been burned into his brain way before Red Fountain taught them about spacial awareness.
He ordered a black coffee, discarded the jacket onto the back of his chair, sat down and waited.
She arrived 5 minutes later, rushing through the entrance to escape the downpour. His heart skipped a beat when he noticed that her hair was up in two long pigtails.
