Summary
Slowly, he willed his hands to relax and allowed them to fall in his lap. His fingers twitched.
“Nothing,” Will said on an exhale, trying for a smile. “I’m fine. Just tired, I think.”
Judging by the fact that Mack’s expression didn’t change save for a quick scoff of disbelief, it didn’t work, and Will cursed whoever gave Mack the ability to read him like a fucking book.
“Right, right, I’ve never heard that one before,” Mack retorted, crossing his arms across his chest. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other. “ You’ve been twitchy all day, even before Warso tore you a new one in the locker room - which was absolutely uncalled for, I hope you know that. Come on, Kibble, I don’t bite. Tell me what’s wrong.”
I’ll bite, Will thought snottily. I’ll fucking bite.

“What are you doing?” Mack asks, eyeing the scoop of protein powder Will’s precariously holding in one hand as he works to open a bag of frozen blueberries with the other.
“Uhm, making my smoothie?” Will says it like a question, like Mack’s asking him something stupidly obvious. He dumps the powder in, watching it land with an unceremonious splat against the large scoop of yogurt he’s already put in.

It starts off innocent, really. They’re getting to the point in the season where their summer bulk is almost a forgotten memory between the late nights and grueling games. It’s nothing new, hockey players fluctuate throughout the season, if anything it’s normal.
