Summary
Nishiki hated it. In that shithole of a clinic, left alone to be tortured with his own thoughts again and again, he realized that there was never a single universe where he could compare to Kiryu. Nishiki played by the ‘rules’, desperately fighting against fate only to lose pathetically to a man who never cared about any of it. The irony made him want to laugh.
He’s gonna lose his goddamn mind. It felt like he had already.

Set post y1 kiwami. Nishiki centered and a bit heavy on the angst sometimes.
Nishiki survives the explosion, but it doesn't feel as lucky as it's supposed to be. The explosion was his chance at redemption, something to make up for the path he took, but he failed at a task as simple as killing himself. Now, it seems like he has all the time in the world to face the music for his actions, and maybe... tread his own path? Is that really possible? As someone sentenced to the shadow of greatness, falling short of reaching it every time, can he really do it?
