Summary
It’s nothing,” Martin said, too quickly. “It’s just… there was someone I liked, and I never got to tell them.”
“Oh.” As far as deathbed confessions went, that was pretty tame, but Martin still looked desperately embarrassed. “Who…?”
“No one,” Martin insisted, and it occurred to Jon that he would only be this cagey if it was someone they both knew. Sasha, maybe? “It’s stupid, anyway,” he muttered, almost to himself. “I don’t even know if he’s interested in men.”
Oh. Of course. Who else would it be?
“I, uh…” Jon said, clearing his throat awkwardly. “I happen to know that he is.”
Martin turned to look at him, his expression flickering between shock, wonder, and a bright, cautious hope. “Really?” he asked, voice hushed and awestruck.
“Yes, he’s, um. He’s definitely mentioned an ex-boyfriend before.”
Martin frowned in confusion. “Who…?”
“Tim…” Jon said, growing confused himself. “Why, who were you…?”
“R-Right, yeah, Tim as well.”
...
Jon becomes determined to be a good wingman to Martin. That will mean putting aside his own growing feelings, but, well, Jon's always been good at repressing things. It'll be fine.
It'll be fine.

Summary
Jon swallows, taking a moment to map out and memorize Martin’s face all over again. He looks… exactly the same, in all the ways that matter. The evidence of what he’s been through is there (he looks so tired, the dark circles under his eyes practically have their own dark circles), but he is still, without a doubt, Martin.
“What’s that look for?” Martin asks him.
“I missed you,” Jon answers easily.
“Oh.” With his free hand, Martin reaches out, cups Jon’s cheek. “I missed you too.”

Summary
Daisy opens the door, then stands in it, crosses her arms and says, “Ah. You’re moping.”
Jon continues to stare in the vague direction of the floor. “That’s very comforting, thank you.”
“What, you want a heart to heart?”
Jon barks a laugh at that, bitter, surprising himself (or surprising Daisy, maybe) with the force of it. Daisy makes a ‘yeah, fair’ face, then hovers in the door for a moment longer before coming over and sitting down next to Jon.

Summary
Or, Martin gets accustomed to reciprocation.
---
Jon speaks again. "Is there anything I can do?"
Two-plus decades of self-abnegation bubble up in Martin's throat, threatening to spill over, to reassure Jon that everything's okay, not to worry, Martin's just fine. But the words die on his tongue. Maybe there was a thread of compulsion in Jon's question. Maybe it's the after-effects of that glorious, already-fading moment of SIGHT, when all the fog had gone out of Martin's head for the first time in months and Jon had stood before him, real and true and unafraid. Or maybe it's nothing supernatural at all. Maybe it's just ordinary human trust.
