Summary
Virtual Gusu, 2381. Wei Wuxian, an archeological painter, is commissioned to render a portrait of Lan Wangji, the Second Mistress of the Cloud Recesses—a sanctuary for analog radicals.
Wei Wuxian traverses a world where kitecopters are rendered in red silk, minds are melded with a handshake, and personhoods get snapshotted and delivered in soundless pulses. It should take her mere milliseconds to learn everything she needs about her subject.
Or, will it?
A silkpunk romance inspired by Portrait of a Lady on Fire—vibes only, no knowledge of the movie required.

Who is this dark figure in this distance?
“No one is as perfect as you! How am I meant to find someone as pretty as you or as skilled with a sword, Lan Zhan? Tell me!” Wei Wuxian kicks her feet
“No need.” Lan Wangji swallows. “I am right here.”
Wei Wuxian laughs, “Of course, of course, silly me.” She squeezes Lan Wangji’s hands back tracing her knuckles. “We’ll get Suibian and Bichen back and wander the world together.”
