Another five minutes pass with Jeremy sitting in the dark. He steels himself enough to sit up and lean back into the seat, but keeps his eyes closed until he can count to thirty.
Jean is probably asleep already, anyway.
But there was that text from Kevin. That distracted him long enough to get caught by his brother in the first place. That caused an argument which spiraled out of control so badly Jeremy is now sitting in the car with a black eye that’s threatening to shut and prevent him from driving.

Summary
It was universally known that Jeremy Moreau was one of the most beloved professors at USC, and also one of the most lusted after. It was also, rather tragically, well known that he was married. To some guy no one had ever seen or knew much about, despite all of their professor's terrible impressions of him. He kind of sounded like a dick though. But hopefully he wasn't a mob boss like some people suggested.

“What?” Jean asks, half in a daze.
Jeremy swallows. “You said yes. To Allison. When she asked if you’re going to marry me.”
This seems to get Jean’s attention. “Of course I said yes.”
“That means you want to,” says Jeremy. “You want to marry me.”
“Jeremy.” Jean is looking at him as if he is stupid. And, well, perhaps Jeremy is a little stupid. “We have been together for eight years.”
Truthfully, Jeremy has been thinking about his and Jean’s wedding since his fifth year at USC.

Summary
“Concussion. My helmet-I...” Jeremy can hear the slight slur of his own words, and tries his best to carefully speak again. “I think I'm okay.”
Jean treats him to a withering glare, unimpressed, before his expression pales slightly, and Jeremy does not have to guess as to why. The backliner pulls his hand from Jeremy's skull, holding it in front of him so he can see as well.
Red.
Slick and bright, coating Jean's fingers.
Or: Jeremy is badly injured, and finds it increasingly difficult to keep his feelings for a certain former Raven under wraps as some interesting facts come to light.
