Summary
Even though they had to do this a million times, it still hurt just as bad as the last time. Connor didn’t think this would get any easier. The knowledge of their limited time together always got harder to swallow the nearer they got to the other’s departure.
“I hate that we have to keep doing this,” Connor said.
Matt swallowed, feeling his throat tighten. “I know. Me too.”
Basically, Matt has to fly back to New York so they fuck before he leaves.

Summary
Victor wasn’t the same man Connor had fallen for all those months ago. It was that one phone notification that was the last straw. It was what broke him. The texts were proof enough for him. All right there on Victor’s phone. Texts he clearly wasn’t supposed to see. With nothing else going for him, Connor threw himself into hockey and his career. That’s when all the events began– media appearances, team charity events, all stuff that was a part of his contract, but he realized it kept him occupied. He didn’t know how much longer he could keep this act up. The constant pretending and forced smiles were draining every ounce of energy he even had left in him. Until he met--
“Matt Rempe,” the guy said, recognizing the confused look on Connor’s face. He offered a wide grin and extended his hand out to him.

He worked twice as much then he should have today, and yet he still felt like he underperformed. Pushing himself to train a little bit more that day, his knee gave out, and his leg crumbled under the weight, and he crashed to the ground. If Matt found out or saw, he’d force him to see a doctor. That meant he’d end up being benched and there was no way he was about to let that happen. He couldn't be benched. All his hard work would be for nothing. He would have nothing to show for the rest of the season if he’s just on the bench.
