Summary
Since 'The Mission', the Daggers have bonded as a pack - except Hangman who loiters and pines around the edges but won't allow himself the comfort he clearly craves. Bradley has fallen for the prickly, talented, Omega Aviator that saved him, but he can't get him to talk. He would woo him - if he could have him permission. Carole, Maverick and Iceman raised him right - he needs enthusiastic consent for anything other than a game of nine ball. Phoenix is tired of Bradley whining and decides to talk to Jake... but will she just make everything worse?

Summary
Daggers become a permanent squad and 2 years later Jake is shot down and killed protecting his Team.
Another year passes and somehow Daggers are involved in a top-secret Pentagon mission where they encounter Jake again. Turns out Jake is now working as a mercenary and is part of a group of immortal humans, including his husband with whom he has been for centuries. He joined the Navy to learn how to fly planes and then faked his death to go back to his real family.
Daggers are not sure how to deal with the fact that Jake is in reality an ancient being and Bradley is struggling with the reality that he is just a passing episode in a life of an immortal being.
Bonus if Jake and his husband know each other since Ancient Rome

Corporal punishments remained in the Navy, but the catch is that they can’t be administered without the consent of the one who is being punished. So, they are almost never used, unless someone is desperate enough to avoid an alternative punishment like demotion or discharge. After the mission not everyone is happy. Two jets were lost, a carrier was left damaged from the crash landing of F14 - someone has to pay. They won’t go after Mav or Rooster (Ice), but Hangman is ripe for the taking, for his unauthorised air cover. He is to be discharged, but one of the sadistic old pricks gives him a choice - losing his wings or whipping . He chooses the latter. Mav and Rooster are furious but it’s too late to do anything, save for helping to care for Jake after the ordeal is over
Kudos if Mav is the one to administer the punishment - Jake asks him to do it, because he knows that in the end it’s a better option
Extra Kudos if the whole Daggers squad has to watch the punishment as a “lesson” to follow their orders
Entire millions of kudos if Rooster helps Coyote to walk Jake to the infirmary after the whipping and other officers who were brought for a “lesson” salute them -
