Arthur just laughed, shaking his head. “It’s a surprise, Merlin. I have to be vague. Come on, don’t complain, the courtyard isn’t that far.”
As if that solved anything.
“The courtyard? Why are we going to the courtyard at this time? The sun’s nearly set, what are you planning, Arthur?”

By the twelfth time, it became hard to cry anymore. Even when he found the knights’ armour, and their swords. Even when he found the letters from when they had to travel alone. Even when found Gwen’s favourite dresses, and Morgana’s best ones. Each new addition struck his heart like lightning with a metal rod, but the tears stopped coming.
