Summary
"The people who were already here have reacted to a universe within your timeline, the future, so to say, but you will now be reacting to a universe with different fundamental laws than yours." A few protested, and others seemed excited. She held up a hand for silence. “This universe has abilities and entities that yours doesn’t and therefore will have events that cannot and will not happen in any of your timelines. Understood?” There was a sea of bobbing heads, plus one or two miscellaneous gestures which C4S02 took as agreements.

Summary
“Headstone?” whispered Takemichi, who was huddled by Chifuyu as they both stared at the screen intently.
Chifuyu whispered back, “Do you think it is who I think it is?”
Takemichi shrugged. “Who knows?” he grumbled. “Stupid Hanma covering up the stupid headstone.”

Summary
“You’re cruel, Michael Wheeler,” Will says through gritted teeth and a tight throat and years of accumulated anger dissipating into something sticky and sweet. Says it softly, but Mike winces, anyway. It is both gut-wrenching and sickly satisfying.

Bookmarker's Notes
Honestly a majestic work, I'm honored to have read it. The eloquence of Will's continuous unintentional pain at Mike's hands is so so so real and understandable and relatable and his fear doesn't get shoved aside or fixed when Mike confesses or even when he kisses him. No real talking about the issues between the boys but there is an acknowledgement that they exist in Will's internal monologue.

Summary
“Sorry, excuse me,” he tried to get their attention with a natural tone. Both men immediately seemed to become a little more serious, and their shoulders tensed almost imperceptibly. “Are you two a couple?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Oh, it's for a video, you know, we go out and ask couples how they met.”
***
50-year-old Will and Mike are asked about their relationship and how they met, and Mike is absolutely delighted.

Summary
Mike hesitated at the bottom of the stairs, his gaze fixed on the nest. It looked wrong, all empty and still. He remembered how Will would look, curled up inside, just the top of his head visible, his breathing slow and even.
"It's okay," Dustin said, clapping him on the shoulder. "He wouldn't mind. She needs somewhere safe."
Mike nodded, though he wasn't convinced. Will would mind. The nest was private, a sacred space. But what choice did they have?Or: Will learns how to build nests in the places he feels safe. But when he comes back from the Upside Down, he finds they're not the same anymore.

Summary
“Ouch.” Max says sarcastically, adding a seventh line to the “you suck” tally on the whiteboard. “Seven to zero. Watching your attempts at flirting is getting painful.”
“I’m not flirting,” Mike tries a lie, “that was a normal interaction.”
“Keep telling yourself that, numbnuts,” Max responds drily, “you couldn’t get a date with Will Byers to save your life.”
With the help of his snarky ice cream-scooping coworker Max, Mike Wheeler’s life is turned into nothing short of a wreck as he pathetically goes about trying to charm Will Byers.

Summary
011. Tattooed on the center of her wrist, right where it would have been covered by the bandana.
Steve jolts back like he's been burned, and then suddenly he's out of the chair and making a beeline for the closest exit he sees. He thinks he hears someone call out his name, but he’s already heading out the front door. He needs to get out, to get away, he needs—he doesn’t know what, but he couldn’t sit there for another moment looking at that number on her skin.
[Or: this isn't the first time Steve's seen numbers on someone's arm. Jonathan helps him work it out.]
