Jayce laughs, but there’s no humor in it. It’s bitter, shaky, and scrapes against the walls of his chest on the way out. “I'm afraid of you. Of what you mean to me.” He finds the courage to peer at Viktor again. “That this won’t mean the same thing to you that it does to me.”
Viktor studies him. "And what exactly does this mean to you?"
The question isn’t harsh. It’s resolute; firm in the way Viktor always is when he’s searching for clarity. Jayce doesn’t look away, doesn’t flinch from the weight of it.
"It means everything."
The Hexcore is blipped from existence, and Jayce and Viktor run from the chaos. Turns out that they love each other a little too much.
