It was a stray shot—Garrus’s, a rarity—that started the problem. The bullet whizzed past the final vorcha and straight into the bud of a sprawling vine, and a cloud of pollen briefly engulfed the battlefield. For a moment, everything smelled sweet and tingly. Then Shepard’s suit kicked in and the vorcha hissed and everything was normal again.

Summary
Neither him nor Shepard would change, which was fine by him. He loved her for all her strengths and flaws, and knew she felt the same about him.
Even so, he thought, setting his armoured gloves and shoulder guards on the floor with his gauntlets, he wanted to help Shepard any way he could.
She was the most selfless person in the galaxy, and she deserved a moment to herself.
Most of all, Garrus wanted to be the one to take care of her.
