They have a house to themselves and plans that involve nothing more complicated than breakfast and staying in bed.
Satoru’s phone won’t stop ringing.
When a call drags him into a shift that wasn’t his, a catastrophic accident turns the day inside out. Satoru has built his life on saving other people—on being the one who walks in, never the one carried out. Recovery asks for the thing he hates most: surrender. Suguru can keep a city’s worth of facts straight, but he can’t make Satoru believe that being cared for isn’t the same as failing.
