He doesn’t mind, or he says he doesn’t mind, but his friends and family are constantly trying to get him to live to the fullest and not drown himself in work. On Wooyoung’s birthday, his friends want to go to a strip club and Jongho is dragged along with them. There, he meets someone who makes him feel more than he has for a long time and he can’t help but be intrigued and come back for more.

“Yeah, yeah.” Felix grips the door frame, body still halfway into the hallway. “Can’t bother the RA too much. People will talk, won’t they?” Felix is joking. He’s definitely joking, a playful sort of banter that anyone would say, but Chan feels taken aback by it.
“Thank you for the job security,” Chan says emphatically, eyelids fluttering closed as he gives a dramatized press of his palm against his chest.
“Any time,” Felix says. He doesn’t move away from the door.
Chan does what his monkey-brain tells him to without thinking twice of it. “Do you want to come in? I’m not doing anything important.”

“Eddie?”
His voice is too loud in the silent backyard, and Eddie jumps about three feet in the air, lit cigarette toppling from his mouth and onto the grass.
“Shit—” he stamps it out with the heel of his shoe, before dragging a hand down his face and looking up at Steve through distorted eyelids, “Christ, Harrington, you scared the shit out of me.”He hasn’t seen much of Eddie since… well, since, only ever catching glimpses of his ratty hair when picking up the kids from their little D&D games. Sometimes he’d wave, and Eddie would wave back with a thin smile. He never looked very rested, but it’s not like Steve was sleeping either. He never reached out, but it’s not like Steve did either, and all in all they seem to be stuck in a cycle of vague waves and small nods. He knows Eddie and Robin hang out sometimes, knows the kids haven’t said anything about him that wasn’t entirely positive, but some part of Steve also knows how easy it is to hide your unease from the people around you, because he’s been doing it for years.

Or; Steve is bad at emotions. So is Eddie. They fall in love about it.
