“Mika... are you okay now? Do you... do you feel better?” At this, Mikaela turned his head to look towards Yuu, then down at their hands. Yuichiro noticed that despite exhaustion forcing his body in a lax position, Mika's hands were still clenched shut. His throat still burned, but at least the irritation deep within his lungs had vanished.
Under the guise that life is returning to normal, when Mika develops hanahaki disease it reveals the deep-seeded issues that they have kept buried ever since the war.

Summary
Mika doesn’t respond. His gaze is fixed several feet below his eye line, staring down the handle of his sword.
On the other end, a child sits alone, abandoned, on the forest floor. She blinks up at Mika with big, brown eyes. If she is afraid, she isn’t showing it. Yuu looks between her and Mika; a staring match that may never reach its conclusion.
Shinoa whistles and puts her hands on her hips.
“Wow,” she says. “JIDA is really recruiting young these days.”
(or the one in which Mika stumbles across a child abandoned in the woods. What will win: Mika’s cold, vampiric facade or his undeniable mothering instinct?)
