Summary
Long ago, in the time before the age of myths, a god was betrayed by her people and went mad with rage and grief. In order to stop her murderous rampage, a small village willingly offered the god one of their own and enshrined her as their guardian deity deep within the forest. Since then, every fifteen years, the village has faithfully offered a willing sacrifice to keep their god appeased and ensure her protection.
At least, that's what the stories say, but the village carpenter has his doubts about the "willing" part. Seeing as he's the one tied to the stake this year, Yato is pretty sure he knows that better than anyone.

Amari took a moment to grip her horns, breathe through the panic, and summon the level head her companions knew her for. She was on the nautiloid again, and after looking around with a shrewd gaze, she knew it was the very same nautiloid she had woken on nearly five years previously. Was she being fucked with? Surely she was dead? She was dying in her last memory. Was this her own personal Hell, literally? At least this time she had all of her memories of her life up until this moment, even if they were nightmarish.
Amari tells her deadbeat dad to go fuck himself, beats her Urge, dies, makes her vampire boyfriend something like a god, saves the world, loses all of her friends, dies again, and wakes up to start it all over.

Was this bad blood or ceremorphosis? Can't be too careful and he wasn't in a position to object. You needed to be able to stand and see clearly to argue with a gith and a greatsword. Snicker-snack and then the party would just use magic to open locked chests.
That's how the world worked. Bad things happened when people saw that you were weak.
