Summary
But now? Wuyang is more jaded than he’d been back then; he’s experienced physical and emotional hurt as part of his time with Overwatch. Illari thinks of the new scar that stretches from his right collarbone to the base of his neck. She would have killed the Talon operative who’d left the mark in seconds if she had been on that mission.
Or, Illari is alone, until she isn't.

Davrin squeezes Rook’s hand once the shock of the moment wears off, the smile that cuts across his features warmer than the sun beating down on a Rivaini beach.

Summary
Each time the Warfarer leaves Vernworth, the Prince Regent fears it may be the last, for is it not the fate of the Arisen to seek in perpetuity? What they are seeking may change with the strength of that Arisen’s will, but Sven holds no doubt in his heart that the man he has not-so-secret affection for will not tire in his crusade against the dragon until the creature has been broken beneath his hands.

Summary
Javi knows he has a concussion, but he has to open his eyes. That feels as bad as the initial contact once he sees how close the tornado is.
“Javi, you’ve gotta get up, baby. You’ve gotta crawl just a little,” Tyler is pleading, crouching as he moves toward where Javi is flattened. “I know it hurts, but you need to get in the truck. I can help.”

Summary
Tyler gets this goofy expression on his face, the one where his smile goes crooked and he’s thinking too hard about what he’s going to say next; it’s the one that forms right before the tornado, the hook, the fear before touch down of the most ridiculous phrase ever uttered.
“Darlin’, you don’t need to try to get my attention. You’ve already got it,” he says, earnest despite the grin—always so damn truthful when it comes to this thing between them.

Summary
They hit up a couple of Javi’s favorite places in Tulsa—puffy tacos, dingy dive bars packed with the strangest people you’ll ever meet, a park along the Arkansas river with a view of the Tulsa skyline that is divine. It’s electric for a couple days, especially when he bumps his and Tyler’s shoulders together in the park, grinning to himself when he almost brains himself on the edge of Tyler’s cowboy hat.
Or, post-movie, Javi has some soul-searching to do, and it comes in the form of Tyler Owens.

Summary
Buck sees the sirens of another police car rolling up out of the corner of his eye before he sees the text from Lucy later that day–which, admittedly, makes sense. He isn’t sure why Lucy thought to text him as he stands clad in full turnout gear, arms outstretched while attempting to avoid being hit with a broom. It isn’t like getting hit would hurt that much, but he would like to avoid it if possible. So, again, why Lucy decided to text Incoming!!! :) like she’d get any response is a guess that Buck won’t even begin to hazard. He likes it, though–thinks it’s something he would do if the roles were reversed and he found Lucy being threatened in the least menacing way possible.

She shakes her head, placing both of her hands on his shoulders and shaking. If he weren’t drunk, he’d be wondering if Celina Juarez roughs up everyone she meets like this. As it stands, he’s trying not to puke as his new friend makes him fear for the sanctity of his gut.
Or, Buck says he wants to start dating again, Eddie mopes, and Celina Juarez is a sucker for a new friend and a story.

“Hey, that’s not fair. I’m not that—”
“What’s not fair, Diaz, is you not telling the number one Austin-based Buckley-Diaz supporter as soon as it happened. Especially considering how much I make fun of your Buck-oriented cow eyes. I’m heartbroken.”
Or, Marjan and Eddie go out for brunch when she's visiting LA. Marjan just wants the Buckley-Diaz details, Eddie wants to finish his food, and some guy named Richard would prefer not to get stabbed in the neck with a fork. One out of three is pretty bad.

Summary
The texts from the dentist asking him to confirm their appointments are above his text thread with Christopher—the unanswered ones, where he’s been telling his son he’s sorry, explaining himself, and providing updates on what he’s doing or changed around the house. Both text threads are a reminder of what he’s lost or is losing. Eddie isn’t sure if there’s a difference.
Or, the dentist texts Eddie, asking him to confirm his and Christopher's cleaning appointments. He spirals from there.

Summary
Karen thinks that if she told anyone else this, she would sound insane: sometimes, her and Buck are a lot alike. And yeah, she’s a rocket scientist, and Buck is the guy who seriously asked what a bassoon is, once.
The point of Karen saying she and Buck are alike, is in the way they love; it’s a lot. It’s singular.

Summary
But then, Ravi turns his head and reaches for Buck, and in a volume that doesn’t allow Hen to question whether she heard him right, he says: “Oh, hey, baby.”
That’s what causes Hen to look up as Buck puts a hand on Ravi’s shoulder for just a second, squeezing reassuringly before taking the chair next to him.
Or, Buck and Ravi's relationship through the lens of some of the 118, and someone unexpected.

Summary
Instead of waking up and making Ravi breakfast and a pot of coffee, it goes something like this.
Buck wakes up to a dull throb in his leg, which is nothing new. It had been like that for the first few months after the accident, when it was still healing and he began the journey to walk again. And then it stayed like that, a constant ache burning in the back of his mind, even before the blood clots. Now, it’s only bad days when the universe conspires against him that his leg hurts like this—a thrumming between surgical hardware and bone he can usually ignore.
Or, Buck and Ravi both have their own things. Thankfully, they have each other to help them through it.

Summary
“Hey, you know I love you?”
It doesn’t help the feeling of despair disappear, but it does push it back for a second. Ravi stops thinking of the sound of the child crying on the 710; he stops thinking of each time he’s felt like he’s failed to pay it forward. Instead, it all fades away until all he can hear is the rain, Buck’s breaths, and the clicking of his own fork against the plate.
“Yeah, I know.”

Summary
Given the fact he thought the entire 118 knew about his and Buck's relationship, Ravi is surprised when Chimney explains that he isn’t sure why Buck keeps turning down his offer to set him up with one of the hot paramedics from the 133. Chimney had seemed so genuinely affronted that Ravi didn’t know what to say in response.
