    Fox was trained to be an elite soldier for years on Kamino. To fight alongside Jedi to defend the Republic. Instead, he does the very necessary work of guarding Coruscant. A job that involves more doing the Coruscant police's job and babysitting the senate than it should. But Fox is a vode and he is loyal and he will do his job to the best of his considerable ability.

    This does not stop Fox from wanting to bang his head into his desk and keep it there because of all the superfluous paperwork when Thire shows up with a lost pet fox. And that's before a senator goes missing.

    Skip forwards several years to the clone wars, and Senator Ramah Voorr has something to say about her three million cousins being enslaved by the Republic.

    She will get them free by any means possible, and if that means becoming Mand'alor and taking over the system so she can give her cousins (who say they aren't cousins but they really are) a home and a place they'll be respected, then that is what she will do.

    No problem.

    The simple solution is this: Palpatine isn't willing to entrust Skywalker's safety to anyone but the best. This results in the swapping of two battalions - one headed for Coruscant with one headed to Aranata - and in so doing, ends up with the perfect set of pawns in his hands.

    Rex would very much like to keep as many of his boys alive as he can. Whether that takes the form of fudging numbers, taking their shifts and work, or keeping his missing time a secret, he's willing to do whatever it takes.

    Fox, on the other hand, would very much like to know where Fives went.
