“A walk,” Shadowheart repeats, crossing her arms. “Why?”
“I assume the animals of this world require some amount of exercise if they’re not to collapse under the weight of their own atrophying muscles,” Lae’zel says. “But you wouldn’t know, would you? Do the disciples of Shar pre-kill their pets so they can skip right to the loss?”

Romantic is exactly what this would be, Laudna thought to herself rather proudly. She’s read books! So much of the last few decades was spent reading tales of gripping romance and enrapturing stories of love and fate. She would even spend time reading them to Pâté, hoping to teach him both some basic literacy and, of course, how to properly treat anyone that might catch his fancy.
