It felt entirely abnormal to walk through a care home with the intention to adopt a child. As if they were shopping for children, rather than trying to do something good.
It isn’t until they’ve sat in the car in silence for about three whole minutes that they look at each other.
But Ilya and Shane both knew they were thinking the same thing.
