“We could…be friends, maybe.” Shane’s voice was small, hesitant on almost every sound.
“Wha–” Ilya’s reply was less of a word and more of a stupid, confused noise like he’d been punched. A punch probably would’ve caught him less off guard than what Shane actually said.
“Y’know, text about the hockey gossip? You call, I answer? Friends.”
Something terrifyingly bright exploded into Ilya’s chest. Something dangerous, that felt like maybe it could keep him warm through the summer in Russia, through the chill that permeated his childhood home no matter how warm it was outside.
“And also we like to suck each other’s dicks,” he quipped, trying to deflect.
“Fuck off, Rozanov.”

Summary
“You know, I see the way you look at me on the ice,” Rozanov states. “Can smell the arousal coming off you each time we interact— especially when I check you into the boards, you really like that. Or when we chirp. You like that too. I don’t know a whole lot about what humans find attractive, but I think I made a good choice when I picked this disguise.”
What Rozanov is saying isn’t a lie— Shane has always found him incredibly attractive. Shane has never acted on his attraction towards him, of course, since being gay in the MLH would be a death sentence to his hockey career. No one knows he likes men, or that he’s attracted to Rozanov. —Well, except for Rozanov apparently... who is also apparently not human!
“Sometimes…” Rozanov muses, “when you come home from our games… you jerk off to the thought of me.”
“Can…can you read minds?” Shane asks, thinking that must be the case.
Rozanov chuckles in response— a genuine sound, not cruel or sinister, and Shane hates how it makes his heart flutters.
“I don’t need to read your mind,” Rozanov answers. “I just watch you do it.”“W...what?”
“I’ve been watching you for a looong time, Shane Hollander.”

Summary
Shane loves him. This is all he can really think about, now, with Ilya’s knuckles caressing his skin and his eyes raking all over his features; he loves him, and he knows Ilya loves him, too, and he cannot believe he ever doubted that either of them knows this about the other, cannot fathom needing any kind of arbitrary showcase of this love to know that it’s real. He loves Ilya, and if he wants to show him off or keep him locked in this apartment forever and only let him feed from the palm of his hand, then he can do as he sees fit, as long as he keeps loving Shane like this, as much as Shane loves him.
“It was you,” Shane whispers. “They were talking about you.”
Ilya’s knuckles pause, and Shane squeezes his wrist, a non-verbal whine. “What about me?”
“Doesn’t matter what. Anything, anything about you,” Shane’s head is shaking, and Ilya starts soothing again, burying his fingers into his hair and keeping his palm there, covering his ear, and Shane clings onto his wrist. “Could’ve been fucking anything, but… They had something to say about you, and I couldn’t– I snapped.”
or, shane worries he's not showing ilya off as much as he should, and it becomes another problem
