Summary
Namgyu's life working at his parents' jumak is devastatingly boring. Every night is just the same as the one that came before it—serving wine to customers who barely spare him a glance, playing music no one wants to listen to, yearning for just a hint of excitement to keep him from losing his mind. That excitement appears to him one night in the form of a charming scholar with a loud voice and an unusual personality.
And it keeps appearing, season after season, year after year, until Namgyu finds himself fully tangled in the dream that is Choi Subong.
It was always just meant to be a dream, though. And dreams, inevitably, must be woken up from.

Thanos stares down at the ball in his hands with a sense of rising dread.
The object itself poses no issue. Round, shiny, entirely harmless. He shifts the item around his ringed fingers, examining the blurry, muddled reflection that shines back at him through the sphere. The issue isn't the object itself. It’s the color.
Light blue, the same color as the sky outside in the real world. Slowly, he turns his head towards where Nam-gyu stands in the crowd, his own plastic ball held tightly in his grasp. Blood red instead of blue — they’ve been placed on opposing teams.

“Thanos?” Namgyu asks.
Thanos’s eyes widen. “What?”
Shit. Something kind of fucked up must be happening. “You’re Thanos,” Namgyu says, not feeling all that sure of himself.
Thanos shakes his head. The hands still pawing at the sheets are trembling. “What are you talking about? No I’m not.”
Something really fucked up must be happening. “Then who are you?”
“Choi Subong.”
Fuck. Something super fucking fucked up is happening.

"You know him?" Thanos asks as he tries to think of his own lyrics to go with the track that's still playing. "He produce for real, or is this a favor type thing?" Doesn't matter either way. Thanos has got a damn gift when it comes to getting people to do shit for him.
"That's the thing," Semi groans with a downright strange amount of frustration. "The guy's name is Namgyu, I'm pretty sure, and he's a composer. Like, the classical stuff at the beginning, that was his."
Thanos nods, even though he doesn't really get why she's saying this shit like she's reading him a prison sentence ending in the electric chair. "Soo...?" He asks slowly. "If he made that, he can definitely do the producing shit, too. It's just a different genre." It's true. As long as he's got an ear for what's good, and knows how to work the fancy ass machines, then Thanos should be solid.
"Well, the issue is that he would never do it," she shrugs.
"He'd do it for me," Thanos waves off. It's not even cocky or some shit. All he's got to do is hook the guy up with girls or drugs or an oil change, and he should be fine. "Why wouldn't he?"

Nam-gyu shakes his head. Chuckling. “He'd probably find a way to fuck that up, too.” Then, unable to help himself, he adds, “plus, he’s not really all that attractive. You know? I mean—“ Nam-gyu makes a circular gesture around his face, sneering like a schoolgirl when he clarifies, “—physically. Don’t you think you could do better?”
“What about you?” Thanos asks, seriously, something darker lacing his tone. “You down for it?”
Slowly, Nam-gyu’s eyes fall from Thanos’ face. Something flashes in them, like he’s been depriving himself of something he’s been wanting. It’s that starry gaze he had when he caught whiff of Thanos’ pills. Hungry for a taste. Teething his bottom lip, trying to contain a grin, Nam-gyu nods.
That wasn’t too hard, Thanos thinks.
