    Summary

Scratch barked and then tilted his head, to see if barking did anything. Gale pulled down his nightgown around his muddy thighs and said ‘My apol-’ He coughed wetly and dripping lumps of purple sprayed across his front. ‘Sorry,’ he managed. ‘None of that was very dignified. My sincerest apologies about your necklace. I know it meant a lot to you.’ He drank messily, urgently, straight from a jug.

((the necklace? The necklace?!)) Ileleste’s hands shook as he signed. ((let me look at your arm!))

‘Why?’ He wiped his beard down cleanly and precisely with an embroidered handkerchief. A drop of water ran down his chest, past the scars of the orb and soaked into his nightgown. It was still white in places, but mostly it was red, brown and yellow; stuck stiffly to his shaking knees. ‘Never better.’

    ...

The Orb is worse. Gale learns that the mute drow he’s travelling with has much knowledge of ancient Netherese magic but his attempt at finding a way for them to communicate properly fails. At every trance the drow's past creeps alongside him, becoming more real. The wreckage of Netheril binds them both. Can they escape? Will it be worth it?

    Act 1.5/2 now updating!

His hands did shake more, after Johnny. Viktor had worried that it might be a psycho-physical-something-or-other; the chip working over some part of his brain related to movement or muscle control, but V had brushed him off. Johnny, a week-or-so after beating him near to a pulp in his own apartment, asked if he was ‘just a pussy’.
“We’re over that, ‘member? We made up,” Johnny said from somewhere inside his head.

Astarion doesn’t need a reflection to know himself – two hundred years of servitude has shown him exactly what he’s good for. Odd that his new partner seems to disagree.

    Summary

'I managed to make some small talk with my fellow escapees from the Nautiloid. Lae’zel is a terse woman of few words; Githyanki culture cares not for excess or expression it seems, favoring directness, clarity and precision—much like her sword work. Shadowheart is very guarded and standoff-ish, though that seems to be more directed toward Lae’zel. Gith, I imagine, also have very little use for religion, so for Shadowheart to have dedicated herself so completely and zealously to her faith must be as alien to her as she is to us. Astarion seems well-practiced in the art of casual deflection in conversation, utilizing it to put the nasty business of holding a dagger to my throat behind him. He’s not made any threatening movements in my direction since, and I’m content to let bygones be bygones in all three cases. There is just one thing that troubles me, however:

I know that there is no Magistrate Ancunín in Baldur’s Gate.'
    ---
Lord Simon Whitelily, 6th Baron Fontdale awoke on the banks of the River Chionthar with an unwelcome visitor in his skull and a motley crew of companions in the same predicament. What is he willing to do to save the Sword Coast, his young son, and ultimately himself?
