Summary
When rebellion stirs earlier than expected across the Seven Kingdoms, Prince Maekar Targaryen fortifies Summerhall by appointing a towering knight of uncertain birth as sworn protector to his children: Ser Duncan the Tall.
Before Duncan can settle into his post, a member of House Targaryen is left hovering between life and death after an incident. As Prince Maekar turns the castle upside down in search of traitors, fear takes root within the royal household. Prince Aerion Brightflame takes the attack as a personal affront against his blood, his house, and his pride. Brilliant, vicious, and unwilling to trust anyone beyond his own name, Aerion becomes determined to unmask the culprit himself. His first and favorite suspect is the newly arrived knight.
