"Where are your friends? Can't you go bother one of them?" Regulus smarted as he made his way to his room.
"Prongs is busy now with Haz, and Moony is at work." Sirius pouted as he followed closely behind.
"Potter, letting a guy take up more of his time than you? Good for him." Regulus snorted as he tried to sound anything but bitter. Of course he'd have a new boy. He thought to himself, more resigned than angry but he, of course, was still going to feel some type of way about it. Sure, Regulus had been the one to call their relationship off, but he didn't know the feelings would linger and fester like some sort of awful skin condition he couldn't quite cure.
"What? Oh, yeah, well it's kind of his baby so- but like it's okay! Haz is really cool. Chill kid and all. He's just- really new, you know?"
"Baby?" Regulus' eyes went wide, "James has a baby?"

“Why don’t you have pants on?” Regulus asks flatly. “It’s fucking cold out here, where are your pants?”
James snorts. “I’m wearing pants,” he emphasizes, slightly lifting his hoodie to show his shorts, which in Regulus’ defense were quite short. “And it’s not that cold. I’m wearing a sweatshirt and Remus is almost here, I’ll be fine,” he says, waving Regulus off.
Regulus’ eyes narrow into slits. “You’re going to get yourself sick,” he mutters under his breath.
“What? Are you upset that I’m wearing little shorts? Does it bother you? I didn’t peg you for a prude, Regulus,” James teases, raising his eyebrows.
A deep flush spreads across Regulus’ cheeks and James can see his jaw flexing in irritation. It shouldn’t be as hot as it is to James, but he feels a fire in his belly at the sight. A part of him wonders what would happen if he just kept pushing, but he doesn’t want Regulus to run him over with his car today.

On a better day, Regulus knows how to deal with Barty. He can take his slights head-on, and remain level-headed and rational, as is his habit. But the air is teeming with James’ rousing smell, and Regulus isn’t thinking clearly. This will not stand. Regulus won’t allow it. Not James. James is a sanctity, not to be blemished or tarnished. Not to be played with or disregarded. He’s Regulus’ to protect and dote on, and Barty’s to forget about.
Besides, Regulus never plans James to become his ex—Barty’s primary target for artful seduction. He conveniently disregards the fact they’re not yet officially together, but it’s inevitable. Written in the stars, you could say. Regulus can see these stars reflected in James’ eyes when he fucks him.
Or, Regulus is desperately in love, Barty sticks his dick where it doesn't belong, and James comes up with a genius idea—why have one alpha take you through your heat when you can have two?
