The first half made it tough to really like any of the characters but seeing them grow as the chapters went on was amazing and my heart was aching by the end. Warning: the end is devastating and broke me a little but it was still so beautiful. What a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

1. Sentinels are people with heightened senses, quite alike those found in werewolves in popular fiction.
2. A sentinel can sometimes over-focus on one of their senses, which can result in what people would normally call 'zoning out'.
