Summary
“Hello, birdie. May I have this dance?”
The king's hand was politely outstretched towards Grian as he stooped into a subtle bow. Grian blinked at him, in stunned silence, as he tried to register what was going on. His mind draws blank. The demeaning nickname pounds over his head, like the man is trying to taunt him, to say, I am so much better than you. The noise around him seemed to quiet down at the sight of Scar in front of him, asking for a dance. Oh, he hadn’t responded yet, “of course,” he says, keeping his voice smooth as he hesitantly accepted the King's hand.
Scar gives him a bright smile and tugs him through the crowd towards the middle of the dance floor, where couples slide across the dance floor.
...
“Walk with me,” he said. He grasped Grians’ hand tightly and led him away from the crowd and onto a private balcony...
The moon shone brightly above them. A cloudless night sky and sparkling stars filled their view. Mountains stretched far into the distance, and the lake below sparkled with the moonlight. Grian had let go of the other's hand, the king's hand… a dead man's hand, and rested his arms on the railing as he closed his eyes and let the cool midnight air ruffle his feathers. -

Summary
“Whooah” the man whispered.
“I know right,” Grian says. He walks up to the tall man, he has long hair and if Grian was totally honest, he is quite beautiful. The man held himself confidently, one hand on a bookshelf and the other on his cane. God, he is so gay. “Welcome to Inky Caps. I've never seen you before, are you new in town?”
“You could say, you may call me Scar, what's your name?”
----------Grian is finaly at a stage in his life where he's happy, something that he'd wanted for years. He runs a bookshop with his sister in a mountianside town surrounded by forest, and met a hot guy who seems to like him back. Then everything changes.
This fic has a major focus on mentalhealth and dysphoria. mind the tags and take care of yourself. it does have a happy-ish ending though.

Summary
Well, a masquerade ball. Announced months before, it would be the first of many that were planned. The king was trying to make peace with his neighbors, but Grian knew it was too late for that. If nothing changed then nothing would get better. Peace was no longer an option, and it hadn’t been for a while.
The first night, nobles and potential allies were invited, then each night following would be catered towards a different territory. Peace negotiations would take place after the dance. All Grian had to do was get an invite, or rather, steal one. It shouldn't be that hard, several hybrids were walking around the city surrounding the castle, including birds. Just what he was looking for.
