Simone alza lo sguardo e osserva corrucciato un comune palazzo in stile Liberty di Roma Nord: ad occhio e croce è quasi sicuro che lì dentro non ci abiti nessun panettiere. Le luci e le voci che provengono dall’appartamento all’ultimo piano quasi stonano con il resto dell’ambiente – le tende tutte bianche, i balconi curati e pieni di fiori rigorosamente dello stesso colore (giallo, avranno fatto una dannata riunione di condominio per deciderlo). “Ma dove cazzo mi hai portato?” esala, esasperato.
Il ragazzo che gli sta di fianco sorride, senza distogliere lo sguardo dalle uniche finestre che danno segnali di vita. “Te l’ho detto, è una festa”
“Ma qua?” Simone indica il palazzo, incredulo. “Già non so’ tipo da feste, tu poi mi porti --”
“Questa festa ti piacerà” gli assicura l’altro. “Ce sta la gente tua”
“Sarebbe?”
“La gente tua, Simo’. Tutti i froci de Roma” -

Simone sbuffa e li indica uno a uno. “Guardatemi. Tutti. Fate i bravi e non me fate fa figura de merda, ok? Siamo amici adesso, è tutto sistemato”
Paolo, il più grosso di tutti, si alza di scatto e lo raggiunge sorridente, per mettergli una mano rassicurante sulla spalla. E Simone lo sa, lo sente che c’è qualcosa che gli sfugge. “Ma che te pensi, Bale’, noi semo gente educata. Vero ragazzi?”. Un coro di vero, verissimo gli fa quasi credere di essersi sbagliato. “Siamo solo curiosi, ce parli sempre de lui”or, i compagni di rugby di Simone vogliono pestare Manuel per tutte le volte che lo ha fatto piangere.

Hermione fa per replicare, aspra, ma Pansy Parkison sbatte i pugni sulla scrivania. «Ok ora basta. Blaise, sta zitto. E no, non andremo da nessun insegnante» mormora. «La situazione di Draco è già precaria, non gli serve – possiamo risolverla da soli.»
