Summary
“How about you?” She asked so cheerfully and it was only then that Ushijima realized he had been meant to pay attention to her other questions.
Turning to look off to his side he tried to look as if he was thinking so his panic wouldn’t register. Somehow, as if his mind had been read, Kageyama had met his gaze and with a careful gesture he pointed to the court behind them to indicate what she was asking. He had offered him the lifeline Ushijima needed, somehow so aware of his struggles as if they were his own. It confused him, how he knew, but he hadn't the time to dwell. Instead, he pieced together she was asking about the game they had played and mouthed a wordless thank you to the setter.
Kageyama ends up supporting Ushijima when he least expects it, and he learns something new about the setter he never thought to hear.
