Steph Morck can feel everyone walking on egg-shells around her. They claimed they weren't, but it didn't take eleven years on the force for her to notice their eyes widening with pity-filled stares, or their conversations teetering to a close whenever she entered the room. And goodness gracious — fuck — me, did she loathe it.
The chin up, Steph made her blood boil; the silent, sympathy-clouded eyes sent it erupting.

Summary
When a two-month-old little girl is left on Carl Morcks doorstep early one September evening, his entire world is turned upside down. The care, guardianship and responsibility of this little girl resting on his shoulders.
And just as he's adjusting to the titled axis his world is spinning on now, along comes a ‘new’ detective determined to help in any way he can, which throws Carl even more off balance.
So begins, emergency fostering, juggling work, sharing 'custody' and trying to figure out just how to parent a little girl who has never known anything but a lonely world, and three surrogate dads who are all just trying to do their best.
However, for Carl, falling in love with the little girl was never the plan.
But neither was falling in love with the ‘new’ detective.
Both things, Carl soon realises, can't be undone.
