Summary
Growing up quirkless, Izuku had to get used to the scorn from his peers, the dismissal from his teachers, and the hostility or pity from his community. He was used to protecting himself and adapting to new situations. But when he came home to find himself abandoned, he had to get creative in how to take care of himself.
It was hard to survive in the world as a quirkless teenager, but not impossible if you were willing to make sacrifices.
Little did he know that walking down that desperate path would take him somewhere better. A place where friendship was genuine, love wasn't conditional, and dreams were possible.

He certainly didn't expect the man to offer to pretend to date him when Bakugou's romantic interest escalates to a concerning level. And the absolute last thing he ever expected was for that to turn into a real relationship, but he's not complaining. Bakugou is not pleased about the situation, however, and has plans to make that clear.

He stayed in the redhead’s room for hours, consoling him and giving him a shoulder to cry on. He canceled training with Izuku to get Kirishima back on his feet. He pushed back their dates to cook dinner for him. He disregarded Izuku’s texts to spend time with him.
And Izuku, tragically, understood.
