Vox was pretty much going for a celebratory fuck with Val to top off what has so far been the best day of his un-life, right in front of Alastor’s proverbial salad, mostly to rub in his old friend’s helplessness and discomfort. Alastor’s always been lame and weird about sex—the guy has no interest in it, and not even in a fun, dramatic way! He just thinks it’s boring and pointless and, as he once actually said, uncomfortably damp. So Vox isn’t under the impression that he could get Alastor to actually participate—

Allowing oneself to be fucked in the back room of a speakeasy was tasteless, something best left to trollops and those of low character, or so Alastor had been told.
Mimzy had very firm opinions in that area. The semi-privacy in the backseat of a car was the preferred option and any fellow who did not have a vehicle able to accommodate was beneath notice.
Alastor supposed she would be disgusted to learn he’d joined the ranks of trollop.

It was all Alastor could do to keep from bursting into laughter, despite the situation he was in. Not one that looked particularly promising for him, of course, but he'd predicted everything correctly so far. Vox's flush at Valentino's catty little remark, though – that had only confirmed everything he'd already suspected, cemented it in his skull.
If only Valentino knew.

They had their panties all in a twist just because they found out he hadn't taken a vacation day in over two years, spewing some garbage about 'occupational health and safety'.
His winning smile and knowing, 'I won't tell if you don't,' hadn't managed to convince them out of this ridiculous idea, which was how he'd found himself being dropped off by a bus – a bus, him, on a bus! – in the town centre of what might as well be called Bumfuck Nowhere.
