    Summary

In the midst of her grief Galinda's magic presents itself for the first time and sends her into the past to the day she met Elphaba. It's her chance to fix things, but something else is different this time. Where do they go from here?

    ~~

    “I’m sorry.”

The words came out choked and she didn’t know what she had intended to follow them so any other words that might have been said died on her tongue. It was startlingly close to what she had said last time, though the meaning behind the words couldn’t be more different. Unfortunately, she knew immediately that though she felt completely changed on the inside, they came out in a remarkably similar tone to the last time as well.

She saw Elphaba’s eyes harden slightly and knew they had been received in the same way. Sorry you are like this. Sorry you’ve had to deal with being such a freak.

Galinda longed to let the rest of her words spill out into the open to try and make her understand.

I’m sorry I failed you. I’m sorry I didn’t see you immediately last time. I’m sorry I didn’t go with you when you asked. I’m sorry I never told you how loved you are.

    Summary

The memories of the Melting wouldn’t leave her, and neither did the grief. Glinda tried everything she could to fall asleep: switching rooms, rubbing lavender lotion on her hands, even drinking a foul tasting concoction that one of her handmaidens swore would put her to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow (it didn’t). And even when she did manage to fall asleep sometime just before dawn, Elphaba’s screams jarred her awake.

So one night Glinda found herself sitting at the desk in her study with a blank sheet of paper in front of her. Dear Elphaba, she wrote, and then watched the words waver at the top of the page. She crossed them out and started over. Dearest Elphaba . It was ridiculous. Elphaba would never read her words again. But she found that they came anyway, faster than she could commit them to paper.

Or: Glinda begins writing letters to Elphaba in the aftermath of the Melting. When she pushes herself beyond the point of exhaustion four years later, Chistery decides to take matters into his own hands and deliver the letters to Elphaba in an attempt to save Glinda's life.

    Summary

Dahyun goes through a heartbreak, the effects of which manifest into something mildly concerning. Mina is her mildly concerned neighbor.

    -

Dahyun glances back at Mina. “You’re pretty when you smile,” she says, her eyes widening when she realizes the stuff that just came out of her mouth, “Uhm, I’m not saying that you’re not pretty, okay? I mean, you’re a lot prettier than my last neighbor.” She winces. “Well, my last neighbor was a man so that’s pretty much a given.”
