It’s strange. Seungmin has never known someone physically and not emotionally. He wants to sink his fingers into Minho’s ribs and pry them open, be let into his heart, into his life, if for no other reason than personal gratification. Seungmin inches closer and kisses his cheek, as gingerly as he dares, and pushes his nose into the crook of Minho’s neck. Expensive cologne floods his senses. “Is this okay?” he asks, voice scarcely above a whisper.

“Uh, what did Jisung or Changbin hyung say to that?” Seungmin is sure he does not look stoic or unbothered in the least. He knows his face has gone pale, can see that Yeonjun wants to reach over and take his hand. Oh fuck. It’s gonna be bad. It’s going to make him burst into tears. He’s okay. He’s okay it doesn’t matter what they say. Changbin always asks him to hang out. Changbin likes him, and so does Jisung, and they are friends with Minho and Minho is just ranting about Seungmin they won’t say anything too bad.
“They just laughed.”

As the new kid and his daemon walked through the halls, everyone’s eyes were on the daemon. She was unexpectedly large and fierce and unusual to see within the city limits.
A large orange tiger with perfect black stripes along her body, her bright green eyes looked around as if she’d bite anyone’s ankles if they came too close.
But Matteo could only see the boy. Dark floppy hair, perfect eyebrows, earphones around his neck, and shoulders hunched as if it could hide him. As if he didn’t want to be seen.
Matteo saw him.
“Oh dear,” Stella said into his ear from her perch on Matteo’s shoulder. Her ferret whiskers tickled his cheek. “Oh dear.”
