Summary
For the past five years, Virgil has been stuck in an orphanage with only bad memories and music to keep him company. There had been hope, at first, that if he smiled and behaved he’d find a loving family to call his own. But in the end that hope died, crushed under the truth his father had so often repeated- something in Virgil, hidden deep beneath the polite exterior, was rotten.
Simply put, Virgil was a bad omen. No matter who fostered him, their lives crumbled in Virgil’s presence. It started with small things- a leaking sink here, a cracked window there-, but it inevitably escalated until a broken marriage or a burning roof led them to return Virgil. After the eighth or ninth time, he stopped forcing a cheery attitude and accepted that he wasn’t worth the effort. Any effort. It would be best if everyone left him alone to melt into his corner and disappear.
But there was someone that wanted him, a couple that was almost as strange as he was. Despite his warnings, they took him in and gave him a warm home. And yet... can they really fix the broken mechanism of Virgil’s heart? And is this magical new world as wondrous as it seems, or are there monsters lurking in the shadows?

“Wright.” Miles repeated, strangled, the word darling echoing through his head. “What are you doing?”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“Clearly not.”
Phoenix got up from his chair and rounded the table so he could sit on Miles’s edge of it. Scandalously close, very firmly in Miles’s space as his knee bumped Miles’s elbow.
“You can’t be that dense, Edgeworth. All those hours arguing in court, and it never crossed your mind that you might put that energy to a different use?” He sought out Miles’s face, thumbs caressing sharp cheekbones and the soft valleys below them. Ever so slowly he tilted Miles’s chin up and leaned down, giving Miles plenty of time to not move away. “Aren’t you tired of dancing around this?”Phoenix got disbarred. His entire world shifted under his feet, forcing him to reevaluate things he'd previously taken for granted. When Miles arranges a meeting with him, eager to help his friend get his badge back, Phoenix decides to act on the years-long sexual tension between them.
[No AA4 spoilers outside of Phoenix's disbarment, since this happens very shortly after the fact]

Amidst the swell of a social revolution, Miles Edgeworth has his first "episode" as an Omega, and it nearly kills him. In order to preserve his dignity and position in the courts, his mentor Manfred von Karma employs an Alpha unknown amongst the Ton to maintain his health and keep his identity a secret. Tensions rise as his attraction to Phoenix Wright grows, alongside with fear of what that attraction could do should his designation be made public. Meanwhile, his sister Franziska's latest investigations threaten to jeopardize their entire family's reputation. Needless to say, as the season approaches, there will certainly be enough chatter to keep the wheels of society turning.
