“N-no!” Phoenix cried and his legs gave out, collapsing to the floor. “Th-this can’t be—”
“I’m dead, Phoenix.” Mia’s voice was heavy in the air, surrounding Phoenix and threatening to crush him. Blood began to flow from the wound on her head, pooling on the floor and surrounding Phoenix in bright red. “I’m dead, and it’s your fault.”

Summary
One of the main themes stretching throughout Trials and Tribulations, the third game in the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy, is Phoenix’s trauma regarding his college girlfriend Dahlia Hawthorne, and what she did to him. For years after the trial, Phoenix refuses to believe that the Dahlia he saw that day was the Dahlia that he knew, until at the end of the game when it’s revealed that Phoenix wasn’t actually dating Dahlia for those eight months, but her twin sister, Iris. This, however, changes nothing about what Phoenix went through, how it affected him, and how he would feel about the situation moving forward.
