He’s paid for the packet of cigarettes before he can even really think about it, taking a second to wince at the price of the cigarettes these days before tapping his card against the machine. It’s been a long time since he’s really, genuinely craved a cigarette, the habit a hallmark of his youth and rebellion that had defined those tender teenage years, but he desperately wanted one now.
