Summary
"Is this the end of the line?" says a voice, deep and warm. The person has an accent; British in that clipped, precise way that usually means fancy.
She looks up. Takes in flip flops and brown skin and board shorts and a baggy tank top. The shirt gives way to bare shoulders and a slice of pecs and then a crooked smile, the kind that crinkles at the corners of his eyes. He doesn't look fancy. He looks like he belongs out here, like he was born wearing flip flops with his hair drifting down into his eyes.
It takes Kara a minute for recognition to sink in but - she knows him. A minute more and she remembers: it's her lifeguard.
The lifeguard that she definitely almost skated into a railing staring at because he's too pretty to legally be allowed to exist and now he's standing next to her and gesturing at the queue of people stretching from Kara's spot all the way to the ice cream shack.
