Summary
Lan Zhan dies two years before canon and promptly wakes up in the library at Cloud Recesses right across from Wei Wuxian, napping facedown in a pile of copywork.

Wei Ying did not stir as he knelt down by the desk. It had been so long since Lan Zhan had seen those beloved features and even longer since he’d been allowed to either get or stay this close to Wei Ying.
He looked so different from Lan Zhan’s memories; apple cheeked, clean, and relaxed.
Lan Zhan clamped both hands over his own mouth to stop the pained noise that threatened to escape him. Hot tears spilled down his face as he watched the young, safe, and whole boy sleep. His stomach cramped with the effort of holding the sound in, but he’d sooner die than wake Wei Ying up.

Summary
After a weird encounter at a party that resulted in a painful, infected bite on his shoulder, Wei Ying wakes up to the world as he knew it long gone as a mysterious virus rips through the United States. With nowhere to go, Wei Ying agrees to follow two brothers to their family’s mountaintop bunker, but he soon finds himself alone in an unfamiliar country-- and soon expecting, thanks to a few reckless encounters with one of the brothers.
Eventually crossing paths with an ex-CDC Disease Expert named Xie Lian, his often intense partner Hua Cheng, a gang of outcasts, and eventually the Lan brothers again, Wei Ying attempts to rebuild some semblance of humanity for his young son behind the walls of an abandoned fort.
But with a horrific gang growing in number by the day decimating the east coast, the small paradise he built for his son will only last so long, especially once they discover Wei Ying is the key to the virus’ cure.

Summary
The Cultivation World was no stranger to gossip.
From the minor clans to the major clans, there was an implicit belief that they were superior to ordinary people, even those who ran the country from the Imperial City; some cultivators could attain immortality and become gods; they could fly on swords, subdue living creatures with music, and survive for long periods without food through meditation.
But they were still human. And it was human nature to prosper by meddling in other people’s affairs.
