"It's just a campus tour, nothin' too intense, and it's just us, remember? We can go at our own pace. You can—" Hannibal's hips jerked, unbidden – his half-hard length starting to dig into the crease of his mother's soft thigh. "Ngh – spend… spend the entire time in the library if you want."

When Viktor declines Jayce's advances for the first time, Jayce feels utterly betrayed. It never dawns on him that this could be an inconvenient week for Viktor, that he's on his period, that he likely feels bloated and exhausted and utterly unsexy. Jayce only finds out when he can't take it anymore, when Viktor declining his proposal feels too much like a personal attack. Unable to escape the red haze of its clutches, he gives into his urges and acts on them regardless. When he finds out that Viktor is bleeding, Jayce crosses a line he's never before breached and shows Viktor just how sexy he finds him like this.

In the years to come, he would grow into a fine man, a future king and son of kings stretching back in an unbroken line for well over a century. He’d have the sort of golden face that could have belonged to a kind man, a good one, if only his world were kinder.
(But it wasn’t. Because Jayce's father cannot live forever, and one day he will be King, and a King will have need of the wife kept safe in a tower for him.)
