It was only supposed to be a scorch operation. Destroy anything that could slow the enemy forces—crops, infrastructures, bases—but it wasn’t supposed to end with bloodshed.

“König is a faggot, you know?” when these words are laughed at Horangi over the rim of a beer bottle, he can’t do much than pull a face and laugh along with the squad. After all, his whole team is watching his reaction at his best friend being outed.

König had pointed out, in the earlier months of their sustained dalliance, that Horangi’s habit of being an instinctual guardian when König went to the restroom was reminiscent of a house cat's behavior. Horangi’s knee-jerk inclination was to deny the claim, but he knew deep down that it was frighteningly accurate. The Korean man truly did seem like a cat waiting for his owner to exit the one room they were forbidden to be clingy in.

But Horangi was pretty sure that was just his own crush talking. Just because he was terribly attracted to the other man didn’t mean that the feelings were requited. Still, he held onto a little hope for it, keeping the note on him at all times after that.
It wasn’t König though, but he could live with that. He didn’t need to requite his secret admirer’s feelings, just like König was under no obligation to requite his own.
