Even though Naruhodo's speech did not seem spectacular, or perhaps, precisely because of that, he delivered it perfectly with clear enunciation and even clarity. I'm somewhat bitter that I've lost to something so plain, but Professor Mikotoba reminded me that there was an elegance to simplicity. There's a validity to his words, but he doesn't know that when I spoke to Naruhodo after the competition, the man actually had the gall to tell me something as ridiculous as "speaking fast is a hobby of mine."
What an odd and infuriating character.

“Asougi,” Naruhodou starts, his voice wavering a bit. “I’m going back to Japan soon.”
Kazuma nods and forces a smile. “As I expected. You’ve got a long journey ahead of you as a defense attorney, my friend.”
Naruhodou’s frown deepens. His shoulders are tense and his jaw is set tight. Kazuma can’t see his hands, but he imagines they’re balled up into tight fists—just as they always are when he’s frustrated.
“And you. You say you’re going to stay here, in England.”
“Right again, attorney. Really, you never cease to amaze—”
“Alone.”

Claude says it like a sigh, one that Dimitri dares to call wistful. Claude’s picked up a stray piece of hay off the ground and is toying with it in front of Daisy, smiling as she tries to nip at it. But his eyes seem far away, like he’s imagining himself somewhere else, somewhere much higher and brighter than here.
A moment alone in the wyvern tower grows into something more.
